Remembering in November

by Isolde Rosevear on 2024-11-08T10:11:00+07:00 | 0 Comments

November 11th is Remembrance Day in the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and many European countries. On this day, two minutes of silence is observed at 11:00am. This is the time and date when armistice was declared in 1918, marking the end of the first World War.  With this in mind, history and historical fiction was a natural choice to focus on as our theme this month.

This month we also have displays up for Vietnam Teacher's Day and Kindness Month. Find all this month's recommendations on the  Senior Library home page.

Genre of the Month: Historical Fiction

Every month we highlight one of the genres in our fiction collection by moving it to this display. Historical fiction is a wonderful way to escape the modern world and immerse yourself in the past. Experience how people lived, what daily life was like, and what challenges they faced. From Ancient Greece, to mediveval England, to Chicago during the Great Depression -- Historical Fiction can take you to all of these places. Do you need help choosing a book? Ask Ms. Rosevear for a recommendation.
